Adventures in Photography
Adventures in Photography is a series of creative photography workshops developed and led by Jon Rees as part of ACAVA’s Flourish community arts programme, inviting children and families to explore the world around them through photography.
Drawing on his experience as a photographer and community artist, Jon approaches photography as a way of encouraging curiosity, observation and creative exploration. The workshops introduce participants to new ways of seeing familiar surroundings, using photography to notice details, discover unexpected perspectives and express their individual experiences of the world.
Through a series of playful photographic activities and exercises, children and their families are encouraged to experiment with images, explore their environment and develop their own visual ideas. With an emphasis on discovery rather than technical ability, the workshops are accessible to participants regardless of their previous experience.
Delivered at ACAVA’s Barham Park Studios in Wembley, Adventures in Photography forms part of Flourish, an established community arts programme bringing professional artists together with local families. The sessions encourage creative confidence, shared experiences and connection between participants of different ages, while celebrating the individual ways in which we each see the world.
