Graffiti workshops
Jon Rees’s graffiti workshops draw on more than four decades of experience as a graffiti artist, introducing participants to the expressive possibilities of spray paint, lettering and large-scale collaborative artwork.
Having first discovered graffiti as a teenager in London during the 1980s, Jon was part of the city’s early graffiti scene, drawing inspiration from the emerging street art culture of New York. What began as a powerful form of personal expression has developed into an established artistic practice encompassing public murals, commissioned artworks and community projects.
Through practical workshops, Jon shares his knowledge of graffiti techniques while encouraging participants to explore their own ideas, identities and creative expression. Sessions can include an introduction to spray painting, lettering, colour, composition and collaborative mural-making, with activities adapted to suit the experience and interests of each group.
Jon has delivered graffiti workshops with schools, charities and community organisations, working with participants of different ages and backgrounds. His workshops combine practical artistic skills with an emphasis on experimentation, individuality and the possibilities of making work together, creating opportunities for participants to develop confidence and discover new forms of expression.
